The cartridge contains a small measure of dry crystals which are chemically water specific, meaning they will only accept water molecules into their structure. In the presence of water, the crystals will expand to 500 times their own bulk. To fit, remove the fuel filler cap and insert the cartridge into the tank, securing the lanyard around the top. The weighted cartridge rests on the bottom and extracts water from the fuel as it condenses and sinks. The cartridge should be checked at each fill-up and should be discarded when nearly full.
