- for internal compressing
- length 300 mm
- width of jaws 90 mm
NOTE! This coil spring compressor is designed for springs up to 12,7-16 cm outside diameter and wire diameter of 19 mm. Never, under any circumstances, use the tool to compress larger springs.
Instructions:
1. Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.
2. Clean all excessive dirt and grime from the spring.
3. In order to maximize the tools life, lubricate the threads of the center bolt.
4. Position the spring compressor through the shock absorber opening into the center of the spring.
5. Jaws should be fitted over the coils as close to the ends of the spring as possible. Note that both ends of the compressor have a long and a short jaw. Hook the jaws to the spring using the long and short jaw on opposite sides of the spring.
6. Turn the center bolt clockwise to hand tighten the compressor while aligning the jaws.
7. Using a ratchet fitted with a suitable extension and a 19 mm socket, continue tightening of the center bolt in order to compress the spring.
8. NOTE! Compress the spring only enough to be able to remove or install the spring. NEVER OVER COMPRESS A SPRING.
NOTE! There are some Ford and GM vehicles that are equipped with curved coil springs. In this instance, position the tool with the short and long jaws on the same side of the spring to maintain the curved shape of the spring.
